07/DEZ - FINAL CBCA ADVENTURE RACE

07/DEZ - FINAL CBCA ADVENTURE RACE

a good level of participants
In first weekend of december the district of Dores do Rio Preto wich it is the base to climb the Pico da Bandeira held the final stage of the brazilian adventure race championchip.

arriving to the kayak on the lead
For me it was like a revenge since in may on my second race in adventure I started on a similar race on the same region and quite at 11:00pm on the bike leg. With 2 more races on my back I was believing in myself this time, specially because I was racing as SOLO so couldn't blaim anyone, anymore.

Made my start strong as on the physical term I do pretty well over my competitors and me and Thiago Mol went soon to the leadership for the first leg of the bike, the on the kayak and the on the trekking on the way back to the bike. At this point we had over an hour to the second place and much more for the next Solo.

Time to get acess to our boxes, as were to soon, just around 5pm, Took me sometime to decide what to do and Thiago went alone.

Then, let the problems begin!!!! I had a portion of around 20k on bike to get to Irupi and then made a 20k trekking, but what I wasn't expecting is that I was about to face a MUD HELL! Something happen that I got kind of lost in the map and got on a lot of MUD, the mud got on my frame and simply stuck my bike, I couldn't cycle, push or carry my bike, this simply killed my head, I couldn't think anymore and the only thing I could do it is know that I was lost without Thiago, the evening was coming and how impossible it will be spend all the night on the way back, in the same mud and even more lost.

Well, anyway I started think on at least start the trekking, it was too early to give up and I was at nowhere. So with the help of a couple teams wich caught me I made myself to Irupi to start the trekking.

Just ate beggining I met the team Advogados Aventureiros wich was lost to find the first PC as was I, after some lost time, we made it and stayed together for the entire trekking, coming back to the city around 11pm.

So, I have decided to start the bikewith them, since I had no chance because even giving up I had to come back to Dores wich was 70k on route away.
happy before meet the mud

BUT, just at the first km, again, the MUD, worse than ever maybe because I was even more tired. There was no way I could cross all that mud again, alone, in the dark. time to give up and quite.

BUT, as I said, the journey wasn't over. the 70k on route on my way back took me almost 5 hours and a lot of mind discipline.

Arrived, met my girlfriend and time to sleep. I was expecting to met Thiago at 5am but no signal of him. Wake up at 10am and still no news, got worried and when I get to the finish line, just the team that I was togeteher arrived, around 10:30am. Man the race was tuff by the night, Thiago fell on sleep on a church for around 3 hours and get to the finish just at 11:30 am.

Another lesson learned, I think I should continue on the race if I think on someday made a 6 days race I am pretty sure that I will face challenges like that where you can't go further, where your mind got so tired.

BUT, I prefer to think that I have a long way on this sport, each race a new lesson learned.

when I gave up, asking how to go back by the route

29/11 - ACAERJ ADVENTURE RACE - ALDEIA VELHA - RJ

ACAERJ Adventure Race

Again, me and Thiago Mol went to the district of Aldeia Velha in RJ state to compete on the 1o Stage of the RJ AR Champ. This time I was more calm and prepared, equip all set, map well studied and let's go to the race.

At the start the front group made a 1min gap to me but on the uphill I got them, on my first error I took a diferent way to the bike AT and cost me around 10min, wich make a gap to Thiago Mol and a large group that was behind me reapack.

In the bike I made my first dummie error that was on the first CP, passing trought without notice and having to come back, cost me 2 MINUTES.

Everything ok, the bike went well, but at the RAPEL TA I made another dummie and went in the wrong direction to Rapel Trail, cost me another 5 MINUTES. Made the rapel and went to the Canyoning, and at this TA I could see that my advantage over the third place was more than 10 minutes with only more 15k to finish, the gap to Thiago was around 13min and I had the second place in my hands.

After the CP 10, we had to cross to the other road back, I took a different strategie and crossed a plantation wich get to a hard forest with tiny trail and then a large river to cross, took me TOO MUCH TIME to make my decisions and cross the river, wich costed me another 5 MINUTES. When I got back to the road to the final part I didn't know wich place I was, no ideia, so I push hard to the finish, it was the only option.

Passed a group of four in the meters wich I tought someone could be on SOLO like me, so push hard to the finish line, BUT "my" finish line, on my head was Pousada Acacias, wich was CP 6, I don't know in the hell I put this on my mind and just when I get there I realized my last dummie wich costed me another 4 MINUTES and this time the 3o place on the race by only 20 seconds, just unbeliavable.

With a cooled mind, I could analyse my race and it was another great and most important, beautiful and amazing adventure.

LESSONS LEARNED:
- TOOK MORE FAST DECISION IN WICH DIRECTIONS GOES
- PUT MY MIND MORE FOCUSED IN THE MAP AND ROUTE THEN ON MY EFFORT

A HARD RACE TRAINING WEEKEND NOV 15-16TH

For the last days I was feeling so anxious to suffer that I decided to compete on 2 tuff races.

The first one the AP Trail Run 25k on PEDRA AZUL, a district of my state simply amazing. It was 25k (really 21,8k) with no more than 890m on altitude gain, extremely hard. I went to Pedra Azul on the morning of the race and didn't made my subscription, my only goal was make a good training. Started very confortable and keep that pace for the entire race, when we crossed the mark of km 17 I started to feel tired specially because the second part of the race was harder, specially on the descends that a friend of mine came together until the finish line. It was a good pace at all, and I should br 4th General in the race.

Feeling very tired by the evening when I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom my legs just could not respond, exactly like a marathon and I tought, my god should I race tomorrow on my XCM 60k? There is no way, the only answer it is YES.

A feel more hours sleeping and here I go to the race feeling my legs over weight.

So, met my friends, chat a little and here we go, started very very cool and after warm felt my legs better and started to let the hammer. Since the race wasn't with so much altitude gain I could be able to make a good pace, cought some guys and finished well on 7th on my age group.

Weekend now for FEIJOADA and beer with some Samba music in the background.

PS. the following week was a NIGHTMARE!!! just relaxing focus on the next weeks on Adventure Races.
